Comrades on the other side

Let us put an end to the madness which nobody really wants:

war.

In 1918 we were told that never again would Germany and France go to war. Despite this promise we are again on the road to war.

The warmongers tell us that the freedom of France is at stake. But where is this threat to freedom coming from? Is France’s freedom really threatened?

Has France been attacked?

No. So what purpose will this war serve? It will serve only to further the interests of the British Empire and capitalism - a cynical commercial venture on the part of Great Britain.

Englishmen in Paris, Frenchmen in the trenches

While the French prepare for all out war on French soil, the English will really be in control of this ‘economic’ war from the safe distance of their comfortable offices.

Let us go home,

soldiers of France, comrades; to take care of our families, help our wives, upon whose shoulders the heaviest burdens of war always fall. Let us go back to the factory floor, back to the countryside to cultivate the fields. The top brass make grand speeches about a more glorious France; they promise prosperity, not just for the privileged classes, but prosperity for all,. They promise land redistribution, a flourishing economy, model cities, a France free from mediocrity. Why, we may ask therefore, do we need a war in order to achieve this degree of happiness?

Did the last war bring happiness to the people?

Far from it. It brought nothing but corruption, Staviskys(?), unemployment and a fall in the birth rate. These are the outcomes of war as we know it. Neither the Germans nor the French want any more wars. Peasants, workers, soldiers of France, let us all go home and make peace.

They are trying to force you into war because you fear the future. Face the future with courage; a future full of promise

if we resist the pressure to go to war.
