Kenneth King

I commissioned a painting of the loss of the Mohamed from the artist Kenneth King. The painting (reproduced below) has been well received by all who had a copy. Commander Alec Dennis (navigating officer of HMS Griffin) summed it up by saying ‘the painter has caught the feel of the occasion superbly, do give him my congratulations.’

Kenneth is married with two children and he lives and works in Glencolmcille, in south west Donegal, not far from Killybegs. From an artistic background, his father was the late Richard J.King, a stained glass artist and designer. Kenneth is a member of the Artists Association of Ireland and of the Maritime Institute of Ireland. He was commissioned into the Royal Navy as a chaplain, and served in the Arctic, Atlantic, Mediterranean and Far East waters. His ships included HMS Ark Royal, the cruiser Blake and the destroyer Cavalier. He specialises in painting the naval and merchant shipping of Ireland, and has carried out commissions for a number of state and private sector shipping interests.
